Leather from LWG-certified tanneries: what you need to know
The LWG group defines itself as follows: “Leather Working Groupe / LWG is committed to improving the global leather supply chain, minimizing the environmental impact of leather production, and inspiring, educating and challenging its member companies.”
This international non-profit collective has a community of over 1,500 members acting across the entire leather supply chain (brands, retailers, manufacturers, subcontractors, etc.).
Since 2005, the group has been conducting audits worldwide to assess the environmental performance and commercial activities of leather manufacturers.
The aim is to certify best practice in tanneries, ensuring that brands and retailers are able to make responsible sourcing decisions.
Leather from LWG-certified tanneries now accounts for 25% of global production.

Joining the Leather Working Group is a natural step in a series of actions undertaken as part of the #BessonForChange movement.
